Helping People. Changing Lives

Vision

Kern County residents will have the skills and resources necessary to improve their quality of life and be self-sufficient.

Mission

The Partnership shall establish, provide, collaborate and advocate for systems and resources that empower people to become self-sufficient and improve economic, educational, social and health conditions in their community.

What is Community Action partnership of Kern?

Community Action Partnership of Kern (The Partnership) is a private, non-profit corporation created by the federal government in 1965 to combat poverty in Kern County. Status as a Community Action Agency is the result of an explicit designation by the federal government.

The Partnership is governed by a uniquely structured volunteer board of directors: at least one-third is comprised of representatives from the low-income community; up to one-third is from the private sector; and one-third is local, elected public officials or their representatives. In this way, the Partnership integrates diverse groups to find the most effective solutions to the problems facing those in need.

The Partnership serves Kern County by providing an integrated network of services in 37 communities and cities. No eligible person is turned away, from infants to seniors, Community Action Partnership of Kern improves the quality of life for over 130,000 Kern County residents annually.

Why Community Action Partnership of Kern is Unique

Most community based or poverty-related organizations focus on a specific area of need, such as job training, health care, housing or economic development. Community Action Partnership of Kern reaches out to all low-income residents in our community. The Partnership addresses their multiple needs through a comprehensive approach, develop partnerships with other community organizations, involve low-income clients in the agency’s operations and administer a full range of coordinated programs designed to have a measurable impact.
